Why Strategy is the New Procrastination if There’s No Call to Action

Let’s align on strategy, what seems like the buzzword of the year. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in creating a strategy that works! Developing a strategy with a call to action where the delivery piece is actually delivered is an art. It takes real talent, dedication, and understanding of moving parts to bring it to life. It’s one of the highest leveraged moves a founder, leader or team can make to drive progress for their brand.
So why does it feel like “strategy” recently turned into a socially acceptable way to delay actionable steps forward. Has strategy become the new procrastination if there’s no call to action being delivered? Or what if the call to action is continuously delayed as the strategy changes direction; then strategy simply becomes a buzzword when actions feel risky.
Turn your strategy into an action plan! Because real strategy is a game changer, it creates team alignment, focus: eye on the prize, prevents random detours, and protects time, budget and attention. When strategy is an actionable plan it reduces chaos and increases speed. It’s no longer strategy theater, met with a lengthy discussion and no decision.
If it looks like progress, feels like progress, and even sounds like progress, but nothing changes; it was stalling not strategy!
If your wins include progress, action items completed, and off to the next milestone, consider this a successful strategy!
